1 and all who heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, “What then will this child be?” For the hand of the Lord was with him.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:66‬ ‭ESV‬‬

2 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭2:49‬ ‭ESV‬‬

3 Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli
‭‭Luke‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭ESV‬‬

4 And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

5 And they said to him, “The disciples of John fast often and offer prayers, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours eat and drink.” And Jesus said to them, “Can you make wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days.” He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece from a new garment and puts it on an old garment. If he does, he will tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins. And no one after drinking old wine desires new, for he says, ‘The old is good.’”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:33–39‬ ‭ESV‬‬

6 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:35–38‬ ‭ESV‬‬

7 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.’”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭7:32‬ ‭ESV‬‬

8 “No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭8:16–17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

9 saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:22‬ ‭ESV‬‬

10 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭10:39–42‬ ‭ESV‬‬

11 “No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is full of light, but when it is bad, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭11:33–36‬ ‭ESV‬‬

12 And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:22–27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

13 And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’ And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure. Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:6–9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

14 Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple. “Salt is good, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is of no use either for the soil or for the manure pile. It is thrown away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭14:31–35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

15 And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. It was fitting to celebrate and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.’”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:31–32‬ ‭ESV‬‬

16 And he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

17 But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation. Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭17:25–26‬ ‭ESV‬‬

18 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

19 He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭19:40‬ ‭ESV‬‬

20 For David himself says in the Book of Psalms, “The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.’”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭20:42–43‬ ‭ESV‬‬

21 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭21:34–35‬ ‭ESV‬‬

22 But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭22:26–27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

23 Then Jesus, calling out with a loud voice, said, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭23:46‬ ‭ESV‬‬

24 “And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:49‬ ‭ESV‬‬
